Tomorrow after the swearing-on of Mayor Ashton Hayward and the city council, the council will elect its president and vice-president that will serve for the next 12 months.
Four council members have been nominated for president:
Incumbent Jewel Cannada-Wynn by herself, Larry Johnson and Gerald Wingate
Charles Bare by himself and Sherri Myers
Sherri Myers by herself
Andy Terhaar by Larry Johnson
P.C. Wu (who was Cannada-Wynn’s predecessor) by himself and Larry Johnson
If she is elected, Cannada-Wynn will be the first president to serve more than one year. Maren Deweese was the first president, followed Sam Hall and Wu.
All eight council members have been nominated for vice-president. Larry Johnson nominated everyone but himself. He was nominated by Jewel Cannada-Wynn. Sherri Myers also received nominations from herself and Wingate.
