Reading is the issue.
Our math gains consistently range from 69-65 percent, but the gains in reading range from 61-55 percent.
The percentage of students meeting the high standards has steadily increased, but the percentage increases in math [ from 59 (2004) to 68 (2010)] are greater than those in reading [from 59 (2004) to 63 (2010)].
The percentage of lowest 25 percent of the students making learning gains in reading (55 percent four-year average) has been consistently lower that gains in math (60 percent four-year average).
Another problem with the School District appears to be Science. Less than half the students are meeting the high standards in that subject.
