Wiggins gives Pensacola Promise the cold shoulder

After listening to hours on schools, bathrooms for Roger Scott, freedom of speech lawsuits and wage/benefit comparison studies, Mayor Mike Wiggins shot down Council member Maren DeWeese’s college scholarship before she even had a chance to explain it and ask the council to form a task force.

City Manager Al Coby was able to place the wage/benefit study and an extension of the contract with the lobby group. The Normandy Group, but DeWeese’s plan was stuck on the council forum part of the agenda.

Folks, if you want the city council to even study this idea, you will have to contact the council members. Otherwise, we will never have an opportunity to see if its feasible. Instead we will see more debates on how the school board should give them land, bathrooms for tennis courts and how to spell “Pensacola.”
