Ben Galecki and Burton Ritchie thought they might get to sleep in their own homes last night, but it wasn’t to be.
The men are charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with an intent to distribute a controlled substance. The federal government has alleged that they manufactured and sold a now-widely banned substance called Spice to stores across the nation through a wholesale business they operated from 2010-13.
Federal Judge Charles Kahn had ruled earlier on Thursday that the business partners weren’t a flight risk and could be let out of the Santa Rosa County Jail. Then U.S. District Judge Raymond A. Jackson of the Eastern District of Virginia stayed that order until a detention hearing can be held in his district.
The federal indictments are from a Virginia Federal Grand Jury.
