Pensacola Habitat for Humanity’s annual 11th Women Build will be a historic one for the affiliate, as this year’s fundraising efforts will help Women Build total over $1 million raised across the event’s 11-year history.

Women Build is a special fundraising campaign hosted by Pensacola Habitat for Humanity. It empowers women from all walks of life to join forces to raise money, forge bonds and physically construct homes for other women in their community. Each year, Women Build demonstrates how powerful it can be when local women come together to tackle the challenge of affordable housing.

After raising over $150,000 during last year’s campaign, this year’s Women Build has already surpassed the $100,000 mark and will continue its strong momentum for the rest of the calendar year towards this year’s $150,000 goal. With so much excitement around the fundraising milestones and many committed women across the community participating, two homes will be built during build week – a first for Pensacola Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build.

“Knowing that we’ll have raised over $1 million is a truly special achievement and speaks to the dedication of our Women Builders over the years,” said Michele DuMond, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity’s Volunteer Services and Special Events Manager. “Women Build is unique because most of the fundraising happens outside of our office by many women united by one goal. Our community truly comes together to make a real difference, and it’s incredibly inspiring to witness these incredible women get it done.”

The first Pensacola Habitat for Humanity Women Build took place in 2014, raising just over $50,000. Today, after a decade of growth, relationship building and fundraising, Women Build stands as the single largest fundraiser for Pensacola Habitat for Humanity – a testament to how fully the community has embraced Pensacola Habitat for Humanity’s mission to create affordable homeownership opportunities.
