Woolf selected city attorney

Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson has selected an experienced attorney to be his nominee for city attorney, Susan Woolf.  

Woolf served as assistant city attorney from 2008-2011. She joined Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller Pam Childers as her General Counsel for the Clerk of Court in 2013.

Official Announcement from Robinson:

It is my great pleasure to inform you that I will be appointing Susan Woolf to serve as City Attorney. I will seek the consent of the City Council at their meeting on January 17, 2019.
 
Current City Attorney, Lysia H. Bowling, will remain with the City of Pensacola and beginning January 11, 2019, she will serve as the City’s Contract & Lease Counsel.
 
Susan is well qualified to serve as City Attorney. She is a native Pensacolian and graduated from Emory University undergraduate and Cornell Law School with a Juris Doctorate with a concentration in Public Law. She served as a law clerk to a federal appellate judge, worked in the local State Attorney’s office as a prosecutor for 4 years, and was partner in the local firm of Shell, Fleming, Davis & Menge for 9 years before joining the City Attorney’s office as Assistant City Attorney in 2008. She then became the Pensacola Police Department’s General Counsel in 2011 until Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller Pam Childers appointed her as General Counsel for the Clerk of Court in 2013.
 
In short, she has a well-rounded background and is very familiar with the City of Pensacola and its employees, departments, boards, and procedures. I expect to be working closely with Ms. Woolf in order to restructure the City Attorney’s Office and reduce the reliance on outside counsel where possible.
