Workshops Offered on August 1

The Small Business Development Center at the University of West Florida (401 E. Chase Street, Suite 100) is presenting a Brown-Bag Lunch on Wednesday, August 1, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. entitled “Things to Know About Trademarks and Branding”.  Learn how to choose your trademark and how to protect it, difference between trademark and trade dress, and how to search for trademarks before applying for one.  Presented by: Angela Achen, Esquire, Achen law Firm P.L.  Workshop is free.  Since the funding agency requires a minimum number of attendees, workshops that don’t meet these requirements are canceled.  Pre-registration is strongly recommended.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch. The Florida Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) at UWF, offers a workshop entitled “8(a) Mentor-Protégé Program and Joint Ventures” on Wednesday, August 1^st at two different times (see below) in Fort Walton Beach.  This workshop is designed to enhance the capability of the 8(a) participants to compete more successfully for federal government contracts.  The program encourages private-sector relationships and expands SBA’s efforts to identify and respond to the development needs of 8(a) clients. The presentation is offered by:  Laura Subel, Procurement Specialist 595-0089 and presented by: Presenter: Kenneth Hamilton, SBA Jacksonville District Office.This workshop will cover the requirements of creating a mentor protégé agreement and review what should be contained in a joint venture application.
