WYMHM:BP cited as criminally negligent

What You May Have Missed: Pro Publica is reporting that a federal probation officer for BP filed a petition last Wednesday asking a Alaskan federal judge to revoke the BP’s probation because of criminally negligent conduct.

The probation is BP’s 2006 oil spill on Alaska’s North Slope – 212,000 gallons were spilled. BP plead guilty to a misdemeanor violation of the Clean Water Act, paid a $20 million fine, and agreed to three years of probation.

In November 2009, ice built up in a 25-year-old pipeline to the Alaska division’s Lisburne Production Center splitting open the line, dumping nearly 46,000 gallons of crude oil and other toxic waste.

U.S. probation officer Mary Frances Barnes says that spill was a violation of the terms of its probation.
