Zoo wants county cash

Daily News reports that The Zoo in Gulf Breeze needs more than fundraisers to stay open. Unless the government steps up, the facility will close. Zoo officials want an interlocal governing authority formed that would include the Santa Rosa County, the cities of Gulf Breeze and Milton, the Tourist Development Council and possibly Okaloosa and Escambia counties. The government agencies on board would agree to subsidize The Zoo by a total of $250,000 a year.
