The biggest name being batted around is popular former Gov. Jeb Bush. However, I wouldn’t rule out MSNBC host and former Congressman Joe Scarborough. Yes, he’s moved to the Washington, D.C., but I don’t think he’s sold his Pensacola home yet. Joe did very well as political analyst during the election and has a high profile. The question will be whether he can raise the necessary campaign funds in this depressed economy.
This is really not that far-fetched. Fellow network host Chris Matthews of MSNBC’s Hardball is reportedly considering a run against Senator Arlen Spector (R-Pa) in 2010 (read more).
Others GOP names being mentioned:
former House Speakers Allan Bense (brother of UWF pres. Judy Bense) and Marco Rubio
Congressmen Jeff Miller, Vern Buchanan, Adam Putnam and Connie Mack
Attorney General Bill McCollum
and maybe even Gov. Charlie Crist

Just return from the mother county, and what do I find: New Lord High Sheriff was sworn in today, to a huge crowd of supporters and well wishers, minus all the McNesby/Scapecchi “T”shirt crowd, however, a few had their Wal-Mart ill-fitting sport coats on. Slaughter on Public Defenders tuff, and Jeff Bush, little brother of big dumbie J.W B, declining to be defected in 2010 for US Senate. And of course all of the local Republicans think that Florida House Speaker is a wonderful crook for taking a hugh job $$$$$ after stearing few million to local Jr. College, holding up the proper standards for local Republicans. Yes, the crook did resign today from the cash cow job….Screw the little people, since they are too dumb to understand anything anyway. Speaking of dumb Republicans, do nothing Jeff Miller, oh I do hope he will resign from the US House and run for US Senate,,,that will be a great day for Northwest Florida, dump that dumbie, along with with whom every signs on…President Obama and all of the intelligent people of reat of Florida will be working big time to win both the US Senate seat and our red neck congressional seat….Let the games begin…I do advise that maybe followers of David Duke and McNesby people might want to consider moving to Alabama….you will not be missed……
[...] Jeff Miller: No word yet. Seems unlikely that such a no-name candidate from a part of the state that most Floridians consider to be foreign would take such a leap. Would get no more than a few percent in a primary. [...]
it will be won by a repub- We saw the Obama factor in the Election in GA…if he ain’t on the ticket, dems don’t flock to the polls…plus the traditional bounce from the opposition party in the off year election…it has happened all but two elections since FDR
I don’t think Scarborough will seriously consider it. He’d get killed anyway. Regardless, it will be an great race to watch.

Scarborough? Really? You’ve got to kidding. I hope and pray this is who the republicans nominate to run for this seat. He will be easy to beat. This is a knee slapper. About as funny as Sarah Palin running for president in 2012.
What about Betty Castor who nearly beat Martinez for this seat? A democrat will take this seat. Electing a republican to this senate is equal to sending a potted plant to Washington to represent us. They would have no power, nada, zip. Just like Jeff Miller now. Come to think of it, Jeff had no power even when the republicans were the majority. Go figure.
Expect the Dems to put up one heck of a fight for the seat in ’10. Contrary to popular belief up here in Hillbilly Country, there are several powerful Democrats who are lining up for their chance including:
Florida CFO Alex Sink, Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, US Reps Allen Boyd of Monticello, Kendrick Meek of Miami and Ron Klein of Boca Raton, state senators Dan Gelber of Miami Beach and Dave Aronberg of Greenacres and Democratic fundraiser Chris Korge of Miami and Howard Simon, Exec. Director of the ACLU.
As for Joe, lol! He walked away from his last elected post and he would NEVER give up the multi-million $ gig on MSNBC for the Senate. You make me laugh.
