EXCLUSIVE: BILLINGS MURDERS MAY BE CONTRACT HIT

EXCLUSIVE: BILLINGS MURDERS MAY BE CONTRACT HIT

Sources close to suspects and persons of interests in the Billings murders allege that Patrick Gonzalez, Jr. was paid to kill Byrd and Melanie Billings. They claim that the investigators have been told this and that the contract price was between $20,000-$50,000 and whatever Gonzalez and his accomplices could remove from the Billings residence.

Because of concerns over possible reprisals, my sources have asked to stay anonymous.

These sources also allege that Gonzalez and his team had been planning the hit for several months and much of the planning was done in the home of Pamela Wiggins, who has been charged with accessory after the fact. Wiggins has been released after posting a $10,000 bond.

According to my sources, there was an earlier attempt to invade the Billings home that was done after dark–which may have only been a “dry run.” However Gonzalez and his accomplices were frightened off by the outdoor lighting that was attached to motion sensors. The outdoor lights turned on when the vehicle went on the property and the would-be home invaders drove off. Allegedly Pamela Wiggins was parked on the street down from the Billings residence to watch this attempt.

The failed after-dark attempt explains why Gonzalez and crew invaded the Billings residence at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 9 before sunset.

The motive for the hit on Byrd and Melanie Billings appears to be connected to Byrd Billings’ financing of used car lots in the area, according to my sources.

I have been unable to reach the State Attorney to discuss this report. I did speak with Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and they will not confirm or deny this information.

My theory is that (possibly) the killers thought the many children were foster, in which case the Billings would be taking in thousands of dollars a month, plus much more because of the special needs. (In fact I think they were adopted, which gives them no special income, only expenses.) Combine that with knowledge of a safe, and that could be a motive?

Keep up the good reporting. Would that there were more like you, Rick.

As for the spelling and grammar nannies, give it a rest. Terminally boring.

I have felt, from the beginning of this very sad story, that there was some underlying situation. Though I feel great sadness for these children and their parents, i also believe that the choices of the father has brought about this tragety.

I still say, money laundering would be the best motive for the Billings murders. What else comes to mind when seeing involvements in adult entertainment, used cars and loan companies.
For SOME reason these people were convinced by someone, that there was a heck of a lot of money in that house. It was clear by her interview, that the daughter was not privy to all the business dealings of her stepfather. IF laundering was involved, and
Billings was trying to step away, he may have known too much to be let out.

You say an article was sent to you…where do we send the articles to? I will share this much with you:

If you go to the Santa Rosa Co. Sheriff’s Dept and look up case no. 07-012258, you can find a report filed with the Sheriff’s Office where Gonzales, the husband of Tabatha, broke in on a Gulf Breeze resident and tried to kill him!!! As soon as Gonzales’ photo hit the news, my friends’ husband went to the FBI and CNN where he has requested to remain anonymous. That is where your CNN source is coming from. All of the Gonzales affilitates are car people. Gonzales actually worked for Sandy Sansing and Allen Turner. Last weeks’ PNJ article wouldn’t even release Rita Warlaw aka MULLET, aka Means, aka Meeks’ name as the one who hired Gonzales to plant drugs..ha ha…place a hit rather on a Pensacola Beach resident. Doesn’t she sound a lot like Pamela Wiggins-Long, aka Cocoa? Is this another dizzy blonde right here from the Breeze?

I really enjoy your blog….you don’t hold anything back which is why the 26 million from Rita’s prenup scares the news journal so badly that they wouldn’t even print her name. You would think she was Pete Moore or something………??????????

  18. Oops!

Then again, with all the mention of yachts in your area, I could see where a might instead want to head south along TX 60 and offload onto a vessel moored in Matagorda Bay and use the Intercoastal Waterway and Gulf of Mexico rather than I-10.

    insert “narcotraficante” there.

  19. Putting this here because a couple of comments reference drugs as a possible explanation for a contract hit…

Here are two links that will help to explain why the DEA might be interested in the Billings case.

Your PNJ may have only reported half (the Escambia part)of the story in 2008. Here’s the other half from this end.

You will need a Texas road map or a U.S. road atlas to see where Hungerford is located. It’s just a wide spot in the road along U.S. 59. It’s supposed to have 650 residents but practically everyone lives on a farm or ranch outside of town. U.S. 59 is kinda/sorta like the extension of U.S.77 which terminates in the Texas “valley”. The “valley” is the gateway to the Mexican border.

A person can drive from Hungerford to Houston in about an hour via 59 but if one were moving drugs, they would probably opt to take back roads which run through very small towns and farm land and then link up with I-10 as far east of Houston as they could in order to avoid law enforcement, ever-present road construction, constant traffic backups and frequent wrecks.

Then again, with all the mention of yachts in your area, I could see where a <> might instead want to head south along TX 60 and offload onto a vessel moored in Matagorda Bay and use the Intercoastal Waterway and Gulf of Mexico rather than I-10.

I don’t know how involved the Coast Guard is with drug trafficking interdiction along the Gulf Coast. Matagorda also has shrimpers besides pleasure craft. I have not heard that shrimpers per se are moving drugs along the coast but I suppose that’s could be one way of getting product from Texas to Florida. I see that Bon Secour, AL, a major shrimping port, is only 45 miles from Pensacola.

When are you gonna put up copies of the docs. that PNJ is referencing in their most recent articles on-line?

So, can you special order a Mustang with marijuana or a Mercedes with meth? Of course, this is all just mean-spirited speculation about these fine folks, pillars of the community, allegedly. In the last 20 years I’ve had slight brushes with folks in the strip-club business, and they were seedy, nothing but trouble. They’re always hustling somebody for something, and there are ALWAYS drugs involved.

  24. Professor "L" says:

During the Sheriff race last yr, all of the candidates, except Ronnie Mac, was informed that a car dealer in the Pensacola area was giving a green light when his load of use cars would arrive in one of those large Truck Car Hualers. Said used cars were being used to transport narcotics. Why is the DEA involved??? Was the motive for the hit for failure to pay for pass shipment???? Financing use car lots does not strick me as being that big of deal, money wise, to have someone bumped off, including his wife…Maybe Ricks sources is giving out false leads to throw off investigaters from investigating all of the big time drug dealers here in P-cola…just a thought????
