BP exec admits that they don’t know how much is leaking

May 10, 2010

I will work on my notes on the press conference a little later, but I did learn that BP doesn’t know how much is leaking from the well every day. The BP exec said that they never claimed that it was only 5,000 bbls a day. “There is no why to measure it.”

Now BP wants to consolidate all claims in the United States District Court – Southern District of Texas – with their handpicked judge in Lynn Hughes. This is akin to me driving over from Louisiana to Pensacola and hitting Rick Outzen’s car several times and then suing him in Alabama just because.

In as much as I am pro-business, I am very much against corporate shirking of responsibilities. British Petroleum should stand trial in each of the federal jurisdictions where they have fouled the environment from Florida to Texas and all points in between.

The longer this environmental Frankenstein grows; the worse it should get for Britich Petroleum, Transocean and Halliburton as respect to restoring our environment and the livelihood of the many citizens in the states effected who rely on the environment.
