United Way Activates Recovery Fund After Hurricane Isaias
United Way of West Florida has activated its UWWF Recovery Fund to mobilize community support for residents hit by Hurricane Isaias in Escambia and Santa Rosa
“Not everyone can volunteer their time or help with physical cleanup, but everyone can play a part in helping families rebuild.”
That is how Laura Gilliam, president and CEO of UWWF, framed the appeal. “Our neighbors are facing difficult days ahead, and moving forward will require all of us to work together,” she said. “Every donation to the UWWF Recovery Fund helps support local relief efforts and connect resources with the people who need them most.”
How to help
- Donate to the UWWF Recovery Fund at uwwf.org
- Funds will support recovery in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties
- Money will be distributed in collaboration with local organizations

We hope your business was spared by Hurricane Isaias. However, if your business experienced any physical damage or loss in revenue from the storm, we strongly encourage you to complete the state’s Business Damage Assessment Survey.
To take the assessment, please visit: https://floridadisaster.biz/Respond/BusinessDamageAssessmentsSurvey and select “Hurricane Isaias” from the “Event/Incident” dropdown menu.
Please be aware that the survey is not an application for disaster assistance. Rather, the results of the survey help state and federal officials determine the need for assistance and help expedite disaster recovery resources.
Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Activated
Please be aware that FloridaCommerce has activated the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan (EBL) Program. This program provides short-term, zero-interest loans to small businesses that experienced economic injury or physical damage due to Hurricane Isaias.
These loans are intended to “bridge the gap” between the time a disaster impacts a business and when long-term recovery funding, such as insurance claims or other resources, is secured. To learn more about eligibility requirements and to submit an application, please visit www.FloridaJobs.org/EBL. The deadline to apply is November 25, 2026.
As a principal responder in the state’s Emergency Support Function for Business and Industry (ESF-18), it is our mission to help small businesses rebuild, reopen, and recover. Our Florida SBDC disaster specialists are available at no cost to assist you with completing your Emergency Bridge Loan application and navigating post-disaster challenges. We will keep you informed as other resources are available, as well as the availability of locations where on-site assistance will be available.
