Papa Bear story catches attention


Our May 20 cover story, “Fighting for Papa Bear,” has quietly gotten the attention of people around the country. It was considered too soft for The Daily Beast, but I was determined to tell the story my way.

Over the weekend, I heard from filmmakers interested in creating a documentary based on the story. TV producers from the major networks called about doing segments on Blair Manuel and his daughters. As I had hoped, we hit a chord with the article.

Most importantly, Blair’s daughters were happy with the article. In the end they are the only critics that matter.
