My First Week as Pensacola State College President

The chances of me being chosen as the next president of Pensacola State College are only slightly worse than the New Orleans Pelicans winning the 2027 NBA championship. My only hope is that PSC District Board of Trustees chair Zack Smith misses all the search committee meetings.

However, I am an optimist. Here is what I would do during my first week as PSC president:

  1. Re-affiliate WSRE with PBS, and if WUWF drops its relationship with NPR, I would have Pensacola State College start its own public radio station and sign up with NPR.
  2. Make sure my first job performance evaluation has goals that Dr. Meadows has accomplished or is about to accomplish. This worked for UWF President Manny Diaz Jr. I will use the bonus to fund scholarships.
  3. Design a new logo, but make it a contest for locals and PSC faculty, students and graduates – maybe a pirate riding a nautilus.
  4. Announce the start of a D2 football team that will play its games in the soon-to-be redesigned Blue Wahoo Stadium.
  5. Establish regular open, televised and live-streamed press conferences and meetings with faculty and students.
  6. Set up a series of civil debates and discussions between conservatives and progressives on a wide variety of topics.
  7. Provide daycare for faculty, staff and students
  8. Have at least one drag show on campus each semester.
  9. Help students publish more magazines.
  10.  Institute Tamale Tuesday.

And no vacations until I have held the job for more than 18 months. I will have to settle for Diaz sending photos of his Alaska travels.
