No Oil On Pensacola Beach

County and City officials said at this morning’s EOC briefing that there has been confirmed oil mouse on Orange Beach but none on Pensacola Beacb.

Pensacola Mayor Mike Wiggins said Bayou Texar has been doubled boomed and most inland areas have been protected with the exception of Phase 2 of Project Greenshore, which the county is still waiting on approval from the Unified Command to boom.

The mayor also noted there were 20 skimming boats off the beach working this morning.

Keith Wilkins, Escambia’s deputy chief of neighborhood and community services, said burning is still only permitted in federal waters but most of the “unweathered” and fresh oil that can be burned has now entered state waters.
