Noon Hurricane Recovery Updates

Escambia County is continuing recovery efforts following Hurricane Isaias, including damage assessments and debris clearing across roadways.

The Escambia County Emergency Operations Center is now activated at a Level 2 as of 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12. Essential personnel will continue to work at the EOC as Escambia County enters long-term recovery from Hurricane Isaias. Even as EOC operations scale back, Escambia County will be actively working on damage assessments, debris collection, and recovery efforts countywide.

Many roads may be hazardous or impassable due to downed power lines and trees throughout Escambia County and the City of Pensacola. If you must drive, use extra caution on the roads and watch for downed trees, power lines and debris. Remember to treat intersections with traffic signal outages as four-way stops. View road closure information at MyEscambia.com/roads or fl511.com.

FPL/POWER: As of 11 a.m. Monday, FPL has restored service to 97,000 Escambia County customers. By the end of today, they anticipate meeting the 70 percent restoration milestone to Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, including all schools and critical infrastructure facilities.

By the end of Tuesday, they expect “essentially complete” restoration to the remaining portions of both counties. In the hardest hit areas, tree damage to the power system was more severe and widespread than initial assessments showed. FPL has outage relief stations, find the full list here.

ECUA: Systemwide boil water notice is still in effect. It is OK to shower, wash your dishes, and do laundry, but don’t drink the water yet. ECUA anticipates lifting that advisory Tuesday, Oct. 13 for mainland customers and Wednesday, Oct. 14 for Pensacola Beach. Continue to follow the notice it is officially lifted. Watch their website for updates.

There is an Escambia County sponsored water distribution site at Brownsville Community Center at 10 a.m. today.
