Pensacola is getting a professional women’s softball team. The Florida Vibe will join the Professional Softball League (PSL) and play its home games at Blue Wahoos Stadium in downtown Pensacola beginning in 2027.
- The Blue Wahoos will host a welcoming ceremony for the team on Monday, Nov. 16, at 5 p.m.
What to Know About the Florida Vibe
- The league: The PSL completed its first season in 2026. Its teams are in Kansas City, St. Louis, Birmingham, Chattanooga and Atlanta.
- The schedule: The Vibe will play when the Pensacola Blue Wahoos baseball team is on the road. The PSL’s season structure will bring about 20 regular season games to the stadium, most of them on weekends.
- The field: The playing surface will be adapted for softball. The significant renovations needed to make the field multi-use are privately funded.
About the Professional Softball League
How it started. The PSL was announced in December 2025. It merged seven previously independent professional teams into a single league. Play began in June 2026, with the first season televised on the All Women’s Sports Network.
- Rosters: Each team carries up to 20 professional players. Teams sign players to pro contracts and fill spots through open tryouts and other pathways for prospects.
- Television: AWSN is the league’s first official media partner. Games stream on platforms including Amazon Prime, Pluto TV and DirecTV.
- Ownership model: The PSL is franchise-owned. It is separate from the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL), which has Major League Baseball backing and is league-owned.
- Growth: The league is adding a team in Knoxville, the Miracle, for 2027 and has talked about further expansion. Softball returns to the Olympics in 2028.
The Vibe’s founder. PSL founder Ryan Moore also owns the Florida Vibe, which he has described as the league’s longest-tenured professional team organization. Moore started the Florida Gulf Coast League, a summer league for college players, in 2020. He also leads the American Collegiate League and runs UMR Sports, a sports complex in Bradenton.
