Billings case

I read in today’s daily newspaper Kris Wernowsky’s recap of the home invasion and murders of the Bud and Melanie Billings, which happened July 9, 2009. Kris is a good reporter and the PNJ put considerable manpower into covering the murders and the investigation. After all, they are Gannett with the dollars and resources to monopolize news in this market.

However, the fact remains that I see the Billings case very differently from the daily. Being the underdog with few resources and fewer dollars, I have to dig harder for stories. People share their stories with me which is why my cover story (Where is Bud Billings’ Money?) is in sharp contrast to the PNJ coverage.

I believe the murders of this Beulah couple who had adopted nine children with special needs is more than a robbery that got out of hand. And those close to the couple and to the investigation believe so, too.

I haven’t stopped investigating the murders. There are far too many unanswered questions. Fortunately people still want to share their stories and I’m a good listener.
