International Paper will shutdown in May to switch from white to dark paper. Good news: more profitable, less trees needed, less bleaches used, higher yield. Bad news: fewer employees.

Employment drops are handled thru attrition, nice severance packages that are being taken voluntarily and transfers to other plants. No firings.

Plant will reopen in August, 2007.
