For the second consecutive month, the proposed sale of Brownsville Middle School to George Hawthorne and his Diversified Program Advisors is not on the agenda for the Escambia County School Board’s regular monthly meeting. Board member Patty Hightower has added the school property as a discussion item for this week’s special meeting so there is still a chance it could be added. According to the daily newspaper, Hawthorne did pay any escrow money to secure his contract to buy the property for $1 million. The contract was signed by Hawthorne on Jan. 17.
