MOBy advises high school grads

PNJ columnist Mark O’Brien has advice for area high grads…which I find a little funny since I doubt more than a handful high school students read his column…but maybe their grandparents will cut it out for them.

MOBy’s premise is the grads need to go away from Pensacola. Thereby expand their perspective of the world and this place. Then move back here.

Not bad advice…However we need to create jobs, affordable housing and a quality of life for them so that they will come back.

If you speak with people who grew up here, move away and then come back for a visit – they will often say nothing has really changed – Pensacola is still debating the same issues – education, poor public library, poverty, poor health, damaged environment, beach parking & access….

The message to high school grads should be – “Go away and while you’re away, we going to make Pensacola the best place to live, work and play. When you come back, you will want to bring your friends.”
