Alternative City District plan cuts out minority district

Supervisor of Elections David Stafford was asked by the City Redistricting Commission to develop an alternative map that had more contiguous districts. The plan shifts Maren DeWeese out of District 3 and into District 4 with Larry Johnson. District 6 – which is held by Brian Spencer — becomes the downtown district with a 56.44 percent white majority.

I don’t see this plan flying, but it does make a very good argument for only five Pensacola City Council districts….and more annexation.
