Press Release: As part of the Centennial of Naval Aviation, the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation will present “Discovery Saturday: PB2Y Coronado†at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 20 at the National Naval Aviation Museum. Join Hill Goodspeed, Museum Historian and Artifacts Collection Manager, as he presents the fascinating history and restoration of the PB2Y Coronado which was recently put on display inside the Museum. This famous aircraft was the first to land in Tokyo Bay following V-J Day and at one time was purchased by Howard Hughes.
In addition to his position at the National Naval Aviation Museum, Goodspeed is the author or editor of five books and has contributed to two others, among his works the book U.S. Naval Aviation, which Proceedings named one of the notable naval books of 2001. He has also appeared frequently as an historical commentary on PBS, Discovery Channel, and History Channel programs.
“Discovery Saturday†is FREE and open to the public. The National Naval Aviation Museum features FREE admission and a full slate of events throughout the year.
