There are two outdoor music festivals in this area that have garnered national attention: DeLuna Fest on Pensacola Beach and Hangout Fest at Gulf Shores, Ala. Deluna Fest has been “extorted” by island officials and hit with hurdle after hurdle to get its festival on the beach. Hangout Fest has had solid support from local, county and state officials and received millions of BP dollars.
Yesterday, the Gulf Shores City Council voted unanimously this afternoon to approve the Hangout Music Festival 2012 application. The 6-0 approval came after limited discussion. Next year, the three-day event is set for May 18-20.
