Black Friday Parking

For those looking to head downtown for your Black Friday shopping, you may be concerned about parking. You can spend you change at the stores because downtown metered and timed parking will not be enforced. The downtown parking managers need a day off too.

“We will not enforce timed or metered parking, but all other regulations will be enforced,” said the parking manager at Downtown Parking Management District (DPMD).

Those ‘other regulations’ include parking in a loading zone or parking facing the wrong way, which is a state statute. Regulations set to keep people safe.

“We don’t want people parking all willy nilly,” he said.

It’s hard to pinpoint when would be the safest time to shop downtown since most of the stores are new to Palafox, but estimates are that 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be the busiest part of the day. Either way, it will be less of a madhouse compared to the mall.
