Buzz: Thomas rejects NG buses

NorthEscambia.com reports today that ECUA is purchasing 50 new natural gas trash trucks and partnering with Energy Service of Pensacola to provide fuel to run them.

Mayor Ashton Hayward approached Superintendent of Schools Malcolm Thomas in the fall about the School District buying natural gas buses and letting the City put in a fueling station in the Fairfield area on school property. Hayward even had experts from Tallahassee who helped Leon County do just such a conversion come to Pensacola and meet with school officials.

Thomas, like with the changing his policies on the closed schools, has rejected any suggestions from Mayor Hayward.

If it’s not his idea, Thomas appears to have little interest.
