Press Release:
The citizens’ constitutional petition initiative to amend Florida’s constitution by replacing the current property tax system with a sales tax-based system took another step forward when Ax the Homestead Tax.com PAC of Florida mailed its organization papers to the Florida Secretary of State’s Division of Elections Thursday (August 9, 2007).
“Once certified, we will move from the focus-group strategy employed in the Pensacola Bay Area into the full-political movement strategy,” said Kenneth E. Lamb, creator of the Ax the Homestead Tax proposal. “What this means to homeowners is that honest, lifetime savings that homeowners can prove to themselves using nothing more complex than grade-school math is on the way to get them out of the tax crisis nightmare written and produced by their pandering legislators.”
Ax the Homestead Tax, if passed by voters, will eliminate annual property tax payments. A one-time sales tax paid by the homebuyer will by collected instead. After that, homeowners will never pay another cent in property taxes on their primary homestead.
Lamb suggests anyone wanting to know more about putting an end to annual homestead property taxes should visit the web site axthehomesteadtax.com and signup for the newsletter. A downloadable link will appear in the upper right-hand corner of the page where visitors can download a copy of the PAC organizational filing in an Reader PDF format.
