I interviewed all four candidates who want to be the master developer for the Vince Whibbs Sr. Community Maritime Park (Inside Business ). They each said the multi-use stadium is critical to the success of the project – No major retailer or restaurant chain would be interested in the CMP without it.
Those who decry the ballpark have no understanding of the project or how well such projects have worked to revitalize local economies. And what makes this even better is the edition of classrooms and a state maritime museum – which will add even further traffic to the downtown area.
If any opponent to the park has an example of the minor baseball park – built in the last five years – that has hurt its city, let us know so we can analyze it. Same thing for downtown university campus or museum.
