Waiting for Rubio

They were camping out Monday for a chance to see him at a bookstore down south in The Villages. Now, as Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) makes his way north, people are showing up early today at a Pensacola Barnes and Noble bookstore.

“I had some people waiting outside the door this morning, waiting for wristbands to get in line,” said store manager Jessica Harris.

Sen. Rubio will be in Pensacola today signing copies of his new book, “An American Son.” People looking for a chance to meet the politician are being given numbered wristbands to secure their placement in line.

Harris said that the wristbands guarantee someone a place in line, but not a signed book. She said Rubio will sign as many books as his schedule allows.

“In my experience, especially with politicians—I know when we had Huckabee—they’re very, very fast,” Harris said. “It’s incredible, the rate at which they sign books.”

The manager noted that Rubio’s local book signing is the last one on the senator’s schedule today—he’s coming from Panama City and has another event in Atlanta tomorrow—and could possibly afford him a more leisure pace at the Pensacola event.

Sen. Rubio will begin signing his book at Barnes and Noble Bookseller, located at 1200 Airport Blvd., at 6:30 p.m. today, with the waiting line forming at 5 p.m.
