Commission likely to balk on ballot referendum

The Santa Rosa County Commission doesn’t appear likely to approve on Thursday a non-binding referendum to incorporate Navarre, according to Ft. Walton Beach Daily News.

The political action committee Citizens to Incorporate Navarre had requested the commissioners to place a non-binding straw poll on the Nov. 6 general election ballot to gauge the community’s interest.

Commissioners have said they have too many questions. Commissioners Jim Williamson, Jim Melvin and Bob Cole told the paper they would not support a straw ballot at this time. Commissioner Lane Lynchard said he would not support the PAC’s current plan to including the community of Holley in the straw poll.
