Hillary top fundraiser in area

Republicans have yet to get engaged in the 2008 presidential campaigns. Let’s face it. Northwest Florida loves a bandwagon and the frontrunners. Twenty five years ago, this was a Democrat stronghold – since 1994, it has swung towards the GOP.

The Northwest Florida Daily News reports that Hillary Clinton has almost received more money from Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties than all the other candidates combined – nearly $100,000. Second is Democrat John Edwards who has raised $28,835.

Mitt Romney is the top GOP fundraiser in the area – $23,501. Romney’s son recently made a campaign stop in Fort Walton Beach.

The other two top fundraisers are Republicans John McCain and surprisingly Ron Paul.
