All judges retained, Florida Chamber and GOP lose effort to remove

The retention of the Florida Supreme Court justices was a political football. The Florida GOP party wanted to this group replaced after they overturned votes by the GOP-controlled state legislature and some of Gov. Rick Scott’s initiatives:

Shall Justice R. Fred Lewis be retained in Office?
Yes 67.39%

Shall Justice Barbara J. Pariente be retained in Office?
Yes 67.86%

Shall Justice Peggy A. Quince be retained in Office?
Yes 67.6%

Local judges did well, too:

First District Court of Appeal
Shall Judge Simone Marstiller be retained in Office?
Yes 61.67%

Shall Judge Stephanie Ray be retained in Office?
Yes 66.01%

Shall Judge Ron Swanson be retained in Office?
Yes 64.89%

Shall Judge Brad Thomas be retained in Office?
Yes 64.42%
