O’Brien: City needs another committee

PNJ columnist Mark O’Brien is pushing the idea of another citizens committee that will review City of Pensacola finances. So far city staff and the city council have been lukewarm on the idea.

Mark, citizen input is always helpful but the elected officials have a very, very poor record of following citizen committees’ recommendations.

Past blue-ribbon committees:

Escambia County Schools System
West Florida Public Library
Port of Pensacola
Escambia County Fire Protection

Mark, both the city and county have yet to implement many, if any, of the recommendations by these committees.
