Local attorney Alistair McKenzie was recently appointed Regional Vice President for the National Lawyers Guild. He will be working with Guild chapters across the South.
McKenzie has gained a reputation locally as a champion of First Amendment rights and as a thorn in the side of the city of Pensacola’s administration. The attorney has represented Occupy Pensacola members since the group’s city-hall campout days, and has also represented both Pensacola City Councilwoman Sherri Myers and former councilwoman Maren DeWeese in their respective lawsuits against Mayor Ashton Hayward. Most recently, he has been a vocal critic of the city’s new ‘homeless’ ordinances.
Here is an interview with McKenzie from Florida International University, his alma mater, regarding the attorney’s recent National Lawyers Guild appointment: http://law.fiu.edu/j-alistair-mckenzie-11-regional-vp-of-national-lawyers-guild/.
