Fitness Onboard announces new brand: SUP Junkie

Fitness Onboard, an innovative stand up paddleboard company which first introduced their patent designed fitness board in 2011, will soon introduce the next generation of products and accessories at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market July 31-August 3, 2013, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Fitness Onboard CEO and founder Cindi Bonner – an exercise physiologist and SUP enthusiast recently solidified Fitness Onboards relationship with California-based SUP ATX, the largest SUP manufacturer in the world. Fitness Onboard, already a brand affiliate with SUP ATX, enabled Bonner to confidentially discuss her ideas for a new 2014 fitness board design. As a result, Fitness Onboard together with SUPATX is not only launching a new patent fitness SUP but also has become the face of fitness for SUP ATX.

Bonner and Fitness Onboard Vice President Leah Seacrest, have spent the past year working together to develop additional products to enhance the all around SUP experience.

SUPcessories, LLC, a partnership between Bonner and Seacrest, have developed and hold a patent on the Multi Purpose SUP Strap. The strap, designed to fit any SUP, offers 21 separate attachment areas to connect anything to your board while on the water, whether it be a cooler, fishing supplies, PFD, or even a picnic basket. The strap will also transform a traditional SUP into a fitness SUP, to mimic the 2014 FITNESS ONBOARD SUP. “We often receive calls from others seeking to incorporate fitness into their own SUP business but already own a fleet of boards. So, the question was, how do we transform a traditional SUP into a fitness board to take exercise to a new level”, said Seacrest.

Together, Bonner and Seacrest have co-written the FITNESS ONBOARD Certification (FOC). The FOC is a fitness certification that uses exercise physiology as the platform to provide SUP instructors with the tools necessary to achieve an all-around safe and effective workout for their clients. “Having a combined 38 years of exercise physiology between us, we witnessed a need to bridge the gap between fitness and SUP,” said Bonner.

Fitness Onboard has also launched another new venture – the brand name SUP JUNKIE. “Our passion for SUP along with all things outdoors led to the brand SUP JUNKIE” states Bonner. “Why not?” says Seacrest. “We are serious when it comes to business, but we also like to have fun. We thought – why not share our passion for SUP through brand merchandise which includes a fun catch phrase!”

Fitness Onboard will be in booth PV233 at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market being held at the Salt Palace Convention Center, July 31-August 3, 2013.
