Rep. Mike Hill hands out food

 Rick Outzen  January 10, 2014

StopHunger012x300
Farm Share is partnering with Representative Mike Hill to sponsor a free food distribution on Saturday, January 18, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Brownsville Assembly of God, located at 3100 W. Desoto St. in Pensacola.

Families in need of nutritious food will be provided Farm Share food bags free of charge. Each household will receive a variety of fresh produce that is in season, along with other nutritious food.

This year alone, Farm Share has provided more than 23.4 million pounds of food to those in poverty in Florida. Most of the food is distributed through a community network of church food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, senior centers, and veterans groups. Farm Share is the largest fresh produce program in Florida and the only statewide and local food bank program that does not charge a fee for any food it provides to community organizations.
