Whitehead disregards attorney’s instructions

County Attorney Allison Perdue Rogers sent an email to all Escambia County commissioners on Friday, May 2. It instructed them as follows:

As you are aware, we have pending litigation with Roads, Inc. My advice is to avoid meeting with any Roads, Inc. representatives or discussing any County business with them unless arranged through the attorneys. I understand there may be legitimate business that they wish to discuss with some of you. It is not my intent to prevent such contact, but it can be accomplished by making arrangements through the attorneys.

On Tuesday, May 13: Roads, Inc. owner Cody Rawson and his wife hosted a “Cocktail Fundraiser Honoring Mike Whitehead Rep. for County Commission” from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at their home.

Mike Whitehead is the chairman of the Escambia County Commission and he ignored the instructions on the County Attorney. How does his obvious personal relationship taint his judgment on the Roads, Inc. lawsuit?

Should the county commissioners censure Whitehead for his actions?
