Fundraisers will benefit the Northwest Florida Chapters of the American Red Cross and United Way

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos have announced two fundraisers to raise money for local flood victims. Estimates on damage to public infrastructure in Escambia County and the City of Pensacola have reached $27.5 million and as of yesterday, 28 residential homes within the County have been deemed destroyed.

The team is currently holding a silent auction for an autographed Billy Hamilton jersey to benefit the Northwest Florida Chapter of the American Red Cross. The Wahoos Red Cross-themed jersey signed by the former Blue Wahoos speedster opened bidding at $100. The silent auctions will close on Thursday, May 15th at 10 a.m. CDT. Fans may place their bids on the Blue Wahoos official Facebook page, facebook.com/BlueWahoosBaseball, or by calling (850) 934-8444. For more information about the Red Cross and their flood relief efforts visit redcross.org/fl/pensacola.

Additionally, on May 16th, 21st, 23rd and 24th the Blue Wahoos will donate the proceeds of the game’s 50/50 raffle to the United Way of Northwest Florida. United Way volunteers will be at each of the four home games to sell the raffle tickets. For more information about the United Way and their flood relief efforts visit unitedwaynwfl.org.

“Many of our staff members and fans were victim to the horrible storms that hit Northwest Florida last week and the needs in our backyard continue to grow,” said Blue Wahoos executive vice president Jonathan Griffith. “This community helped build the Blue Wahoos and made our organization what it is today, so it is now our duty to help rebuild our community.”

Tickets to all Blue Wahoos home games are available at BlueWahoos.com or the Hill-Kelly Dodge pick-up window.
