Mayor Ashton Hayward sent out an “Upwords” to give an update on the new food concessions at the Pensacola International Airport.
According to Mayor Hayward, both Chik-Fil-A and the pre-security Einstein Bros. will be in place by September 30. Other food and beverage vendors in the post-security –in the boarding gates area –won’t be open until the following month.
“With only temporary facilities in place, our new concessionaire is already performing well, with May sales outpacing the previous vendor’s sales the same month last year,” said Hayward.
He added that he hoped the additional non-airline revenue would reduce what the city charges airlines, make the airport more competitive for new carriers and thereby lead to lower ticket prices.
