U.S. Open champ to open restaurant

Former LPGA U.S. Open winner Donna Caponi will open August 20 a restaurant at Scenic Hills Golf Club. It will be aptly named Caponi’s. In 1969, Donna Caponi won her first U.S. Women’s Open in Pensacola and followed it with another win only a year later. Donna Caponi was the second player in US Women’s Open history to win consecutive titles in 1969 and ’70. Caponi is a member of the LPGA Hall of Fame and has also been inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame, some of the most prestigious honors in the golf industry. After beginning her professional career in 1965, Caponi won an astounding twenty-four events on the LPGA Tour, four of which were major championships.
