Anonymous robo calls to cell phones could have hefty fine

The Federal Communications Commission regulates calling cell phones with robos. Cell phones can’t be called from automated dialers and no recorded messages.

A source told me that a phone firm a few years ago got hit for $10K per record – that’s $10,000 for every cell phone number they called during a robo message.

“Even if it’s only 100 cell phone numbers; you can see where that adds up quickly,” he said.

Political firms know to “scrub” any phone lists from the Supervisor of Elections to make sure none of the numbers are cell phones. So if any voters in District 2 received a robo call to their cell phones, then the parties behind the calls face huge fines.

I was also told that lives calls can be made to cell phones so long as they are hand dialed and not put on an automated dialer.
