Pensacola Speaks podcast: Fracking in Florida and Escambia County

green-tree-md
On Friday, I interviewed Kim Ross of Rethink Energy Florida on fracking in Florida and Escambia County. She will be in Pensacola today for the “Florida and Fracking” workshop co-hosted by Earth Ethics Inc. and 350 Pensacola.

Escambia County is the first stop because it’s ripe for fracking, according to Ross. This workshop utilizes reports developed by scientific organizations to provide citizens with the most current information on issues facing the Sunshine State surrounding hydraulic and acidic fracturing. It includes a description of the status quo and an overview of existing policies and policy options for the future. Participants will gain a greater understanding of the fracking practice, why it is a health threat, and how current state policy does not protect our future.

What: Florida and Fracking Workshop
Who: Rethink Energy Florida, Kim Ross, President and Founder
Where: West Florida Public Library, 239 N. Spring St., Meeting Room C
When: Monday, March 9, 2015, 5-7:30 p.m.
