Times-Union gives no endorsement

Probably the most conservative daily newspaper in any large Florida city,Jacksonville’s Times-Union, refused to give an endorsement for John McCain or Barack Obama. Its editorial board was too split on the issue. This comes the same weekend that Gen. Colin Powell split from the GOP and endorsed Obama on Meet the Press.

Barack Obama now leads John McCain, 104-32, in the race for newspaper endorsements, according to Editor & Publisher.

Here is a list of the newspaper endorsements. Tampa Tribune is the only major Florida newspaper to endorse McCain as of Oct. 19.
