Cuba impressed by Pensacola delegation

Two weeks ago, Inweekly reported on a local delegation that visited Cuba seeking to build relationships and test the waters for possible business opportunities (“Creating a Pensacola-Cuba Connection”).

In today’s Tampa Tribune, Albert Fox, president of the Tampa-based Alliance For Responsible Cuba Policy Foundation, said the Pensacola delegation “was the best delegation I have been part of and I have been on over 100 in 17 years of working to normalize relations.” The delegation was put together by Saltmarsh, Cleaveland & Gund.

He said, “Cuba was very impressed with Pensacola.”

Why? “The delegation’s willingness to negotiate with the Cuban government as it is, not how we want it to be. A lot of delegations fall short on that.”
