Replace GOP presidential debates with a playoff system

The 2016 Republican presidential field continues to grow. Yesterday Rick Santorum announced. Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is expected to announce next week. People are concerned how the Republican Party can do a meaningful debate with such a large field.

My suggestion is a playoff system similar to NCAA March Madness. Candidates pair off. The winner moves to the next debate round. Top seeds are determined by the polls. With 16 candidates, the debates could be done in four days.
