Take down the Confederate flag, Pensacola

South Carolina, Mississippi and several states are reconsidering the wisdom of flying the Confederate flag on government property and whether they should even allow it on state license plates.

Walmart, Sears, Kmart, Amazon and eBay are removing Confederate flag merchandise from their stores and websites.

It’s time for the city of Pensacola to take down the flag from city hall and other city properties. Mayor Ashton Hayward could do it today.

Councilwoman Sherri Myers plans to bring it up at the July council meeting.
