Common Cause questions Sansom hiring

The Daily News reports that Common Cause Florida, a political watchdog group, see House Speaker Ray Sansom’s new $110,000-a-year job at Northwest Florida State College as potential conflict of interest.

“There’s a potential perception that he’s using his influence as Speaker of the House to raise money for this institution,” Ben Wilcox, executive director of Common Cause Florida, said of the public’s possible perception of the two jobs. “I think in his position, if he goes to someone and asks for money, if that person has any public policy interests in the Legislature, it would be hard for them to say no.”
