Press release: Several Escambia County residents have contacted the Board of County Commissioners with questions regarding the “Notice of NON-AD Valorem Assessments for Escambia County Fire Protection District Municipal Services Benefit Unit (MSBU) 2015-2016 Assessments” that was recently distributed. The notices show the new Special Assessment for each parcel (highlighted in yellow on the attached examples), leading many to believe that the amount shown is in addition to their normal assessment.

Escambia County Commissioners approved a $15 increase in the MSBU to fund an additional, 24 full-time firefighters. Starting next fiscal year, the tax for the average homeowner will increase from $85 to $100.

Here are some MSBU example notices.
