Hall hit with lawsuit over taser use

Santa Rosa County Sheriff Wendell Hall has been named in a federal lawsuit by a Navarre couple and a neighbor that alleges “blatant use of excessive force.” The couple, Daniel and Cathy Thompson, and former Navarre resident Edgar Knowling say they were beaten – one Tasered – and wrongfully arrested in the days after Hurricane Ivan.

Hall is just one of seven defendants in the case. Another defendant, former Pinellas County Sheriff’s Deputy Richard Farnham – accused of being the main aggressor – already has been convicted of civil rights violations in his own trial.
